This interactive workshop provides your students with information on the importance of economics, how it affects us financially, and how it shapes our future goals and aspirations. The PowerPoint presentation touches upon attitudes towards money, effective credit card management, purchasing ability, and how advertising influences our decision making. An additional special feature poses the question, “If you were given $10,000, how would you spend it?”
The Interview
This workshop includes a video depicting three job candidates who are interviewing for the same position. Students will also participate with a worksheet designed to enhance all aspects of the presentation.
This Is Business
This workshop features young adults experiencing their first full-time jobs since college graduation. While each has a different job title and function, they all have entered the business world. Their career fields (international business, accounting, management, sales, and marketing) demonstrate career distinctions useful to high school students. The presentation also shows how how employees transition between their personal and professional time. In addition, the workshop provides an interactive exercise designed to help the students select suitable careers for their personalities.
Fashion, the Business That Never Goes Out of Style
This workshop includes an informative video about the world's second largest industry. It features behind-the-scenes vignettes from the viewpoint of industry leaders and Berkeley College fashion graduates who share their insights. In addition, this presentation will provide students with valuable information on the many careers in fashion such as stylists, merchandisers, textile buyers, and event coordinators.
Interior Design
This video explores the many creative facets of an exciting career in interior design. The presentation illustrates parts of the industry such as principles of residential and commercial design; use of color, lighting, and textiles; and computer-aided design. The distinction between interior design and interior decorating is also explored and clarified.
Steps to Success
This health presentation shows five recent high school students reflecting on their successes and failures during their four-year journey towards graduation. As the graduates reflect on days gone by, they realize that many attributes have led to their success. These same attributes are taught in Health Education: positive self-esteem, goal setting, the importance of a sense of achievement, teamwork, and being the best you can be all essential life skills. Students will also participate with a worksheet designed to enhance all aspects of the presentation.
