Imagine yourself with a career in fashion that never goes out of style! From buying and product development to display and merchandising, explore these topics and more. You'll design a T-shirt as a hands-on project. You'll learn from industry-trained faculty and visit leading fashion companies. Your site visits may include Guess, Inc.; Glamour Magazine; Tommy Hilfiger; The Doneger Group; Barney's NY; BCBG; Saks Fifth Avenue; Rebecca Taylor; Vera Wang; Le Sportsac Showroom; and Jessica McClintock.

 

Interior Design

$100 • Wednesday, July 15 – Thursday, July 16, 2009

Are you interested in turning your talent into a satisfying career? Learn design fundamentals and find out about a wide range of career opportunities. You'll design an interior room as a hands-on project and enhance your classroom experience with field trips in the design industry. Your site visits may include the Designer & Decorators Building; the Ballantine House exhibit at the Newark Museum; and The Contemporary Couch.

 

Business Leadership

$100 • Wednesday, July 22 – Thursday, July 23, 2009

Think you have what it takes to take charge of a business project or staff and target success? This informative workshop is designed to teach teamwork and leadership skills through classroom activities and with the help and guidance of business leaders and professionals. You'll meet with entrepreneurs and leaders of companies and participate in interactive leadership skill development with professors and students. You’re sure to gain a better understanding of the knowledge and abilities needed to develop effective leadership skills. Your site visits may include the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center; Rush Communications, Inc.; The Brooklyn Lyceum; and Sports University.

 

Criminal Justice

$100 • Wednesday, July 22 – Thursday, July 23, 2009

Do you want to make a difference in your community and in the world? Explore careers in Criminal Justice! Do you have a strong social conscience and a passion for justice? You'll learn about homeland security, forensics, and crime detection and tour related offices. Your site visits may include the Bronx Hall of Justice; Passaic County CSI; NY Police Academy; Special Agent at Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, U.S. Dept. of Justice; and the Passaic County Jail.

   

Please note that students must be 16 years old to attend.

Workshop hours are 9 am - 4 pm. Not all workshops are at all locations.
Transportation for field trips will be provided from all workshop locations.
